Young Creatives – we’re now recruiting!

Are you aged 18 to 29 and want to meet with other like-minded young people to explore our museum collections, create, and share community voices from the Yorkshire Dales?

Our ‘Going Places: Young Creatives’ programme will support young people to creatively express their voices, work collaboratively with youth communities across national arts organisations, and exhibit their creations at the Dales Countryside Museum in Wensleydale and beyond.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is a partner in Going Places, a 5 year Art Fund programme, made possible with generous support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Julia Rausing Trust, with additional support from a generous group of trusts, foundations and individuals.

The Young Creatives programme is based at the Dales Countryside Museum (DCM), which is one of four partners in the Green Spaces Shared Places network. For more information about the programme and networks please visit the Art Fund website: Collections to tour in epic UK-wide collaborative project – Art Fund

This project places young voices at the heart of the conversation. Our Young Creatives will be invited to explore the DCM collections, including those not currently on display. They will hand-pick artworks and objects to feature in touring exhibitions, collaborate with contemporary artists and craftspeople, and expand their creative skills, co-creating new works inspired by local histories and landscapes. Personal items and collections will be contributed for display in exhibitions, with community members sharing their own stories and offering fresh perspectives and interpretations of collections around the themes of climate change, environmental sustainability and unequal access to green space.

The group will meet for a year to create, concluding with a touring exhibition of young people’s creations to other museums that are part of the network. Sessions will run from the Dales Countryside Museum, Hawes, and occasionally other areas of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

We are delivering this programme twice over the 4-year funding period. The first cohort (Tour X) will be offered from August 2025 to September 2026.

Am I eligible?

  • Aged 18 to 29 at the start of the project in August 2025
  • Interested in being inspired to create through the exploration of museum collections
  • Interested in exploring creativity and themes in an outdoor setting
  • Keen to create artworks to share voices
